Triceraptops was a large, herbivorous, ornithiscian dinosaur of the Late Cretaceous era who lived in North America. Triceratops was a contemporary of Tyrannosaurus rex, and may have used its horns and frill to defend itself, for territory/mating battles, for recognition, as a mating display, or a combination of these things. Triceratops was the largest of the ceratopsians and lived at the end of the Mesozoic Period and the reign of the dinosaurs
