Apr 8, 2008 - Why does he and other people who suffer from other deformities be refered to as such. I agree he looks nothing like an elephant. He just has large tumours on his face that make him look unhuman, but nothing like an elephant. It doesn't matter what he looks like to me anyway, he's still human, and people are so dumb for thinking he's not.

Apr 9, 2008 - I believe the term 'Elephant Man' comes from the film of that name made in 1980 which starred John Hurt. The 'exploitation' of this gentleman, Huang Chuncai, seems wrong but hopefully will make people accept more readily people who do have conditions like this. It is a shame he wasn't helped earlier in his life. Poverty is a terrible thing and so is 'poverty of mind' that makes people stare and ridicule people like Huang.
