The Democratic candidate gave assurances while visiting the official residence of the Israeli prime minister. He also promised to help Palestinians get their own state.Republican John McCain campaigned in Pennsylvania, a state that hasn't voted for a Republican for president since 1988. There he gave President Bush credit for lifting an executive order banning offshore oil drilling--an idea McCain has backed. McCain says that lead to a ten dollar a barrel drop in the price of oil. German police arrested a man on the grounds where Obama is scheduled to speak Thursday. Police say a 40-year-old driver plowed through a barricade in Berlin. A former German president says an Obama presidency could pave the way for a new trans-atlantic relationship. McCain had planned to go to Louisiana Wednesday night, but was forced to cancel the trip due to severe weather. There had been speculation that he would meet with a potential vice presidential pick--Governor Bobby Jindal. ___ ___, The Associated Press.
