Cuban Performance Art of the 80's (Chronology)ARTE CALLE (Street Art) an "Action Painting" and "Grapphitti" Cuban group of the latter 80's in Havana, Cuba. "9 ALQUIMISTAS Y 1 CIEGO" ("Nine Alchemists and One Blind Person") was a very controversial Exhibition. A "One Night Show". PLACE: Galeria L. Vedado, Habana, Cuba. Oct. 13, 1988.About the Title: Arte Calle propose that the 9 exhibitors, were THE ALCHEMISTS, and the public, THE BLIND PERSON.During the *3 Hours Exhibition, a series of events non planned took place: *Ariel Serrano, author of "El Che" along the floor of the gallery, was attacked physically by an spectator. *Somebody arrived to the show dressed as policeman, but making fun of them, as we may see at the end of this video. And finally, *a group that those not was part of the exhibitors group, made a classic 'Action Painting' over 'El Che'. The Artists Showed:Ariel Serrano: "El Che: Hecho Historia o Hecho Tierra". Pedro Vizcaino: Installation of russian posters and puppets as communist leaders. Hugo Azcui: is the man on the floor & author of "Malevich Over Malevich". Ernesto Leal: *Author of title "9 Alchemists..." & "Masturbation", Conceptual Big wall to the bottom of the gallery. Ofill Echevarria: "Atari Humana" (the spectator had the opportunity to watch in private some short Plays). Ivan Alvarez: "I am a Soldier of the Mother Country", big Painting about the Military service in Cuba (those not appear complete in this video). Works by Eric Gomez: "The Triumph of the power", Max delgado y Alan Gonzales were impossible to save for the video.Also work in on this show: Adria Perez, Adriana Rojas, 'El Chen'.*Marta Limia, Director of the gallery at that time, was suspended on her position.

Aug 30, 2008 - A veces me pregunto que hubiera pasado si nos hubieramos quedado todos en Cuba. Creiamos tanto en ustedes y era tan maravilloso vivir la vida de aquella manera. ArteCalle quedaré en la memoria del arte comprometido cubano y en nuestra memoria quedo como la marca de lo que para siempre seremos.
