In 1992 Larry and Brenda Potterfield, founders of MidwayUSA, created the NRA Round Up program to raise funds for the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action. First deployed at MidwayUSA, this program asks customers to round up their order total to the next highest dollar amount. The difference is collected and each week a check is written to the NRA, who deposits the money is a special fund called the National Endowment for the Protection of the Second Amendment. While the contributions have never been spent, each year the NRA-ILA spends 5% of the balance to fight anti-gun legislation. Jul 27, 2008 - I always round up when I shop at MidwayUSA. Usually, I'll add an extra buck or two on top of that, as well. I tend to prefer to shop there just so that I can send a few extra bucks off to the NRA.This way I can say that I do support the NRA, and that I give them money to help support the second amendment. I don't, however, have them sending me letters asking for more money, since I'm not officially a member.
