Iowa Town Turned into "Open-Air Prison" as Wives of Men Arrested in Largest Immigration Raid in US History Forbidden to Work...or LeaveThree months after the largest immigration raid in US history, when nearly 400 workers were arrested at a meatpacking plant, Postville, Iowa is a changed town. Postville lost more than a quarter of its population in the raid. And for those left behind, namely the wives and children of the men taken away, the town has been turned into what some have described as an open-air prison. Dozens of immigrant women remain in Postville without status or a means of support. Many of them are even forbidden from leaving and have been made to wear electronic monitoring bracelets. Nov 18, 2008 - Sounds like that meat processing plant wasn't so Kosher after all.We need better immigration law that id's people entering this country who are not born here and protection from mass immigration that destroys employment wages. There are no easy answers other than deporting and prosecution of those that aid them with employment and housing.

Nov 18, 2008 - No matter what your stance is on illegal immigration you have to have compassion for these women and children. Didn't anyone in the government think this through?

Nov 18, 2008 - It is illegal to enter into a country illegally, and those laws were established by this country which is made up of all difference races and cultures. These people broke the law, and they are criminals, and when you break the law, and commit fraud bad things happen.

Nov 18, 2008 - On March 11, 2005, Brian Nichols (negro), who was on trial for rape, went on a murderous rampage at an Atlanta courthouse, shooting a judge, a court reporter, and a deputy. After his arrest, he explained that he was a soldier on a mission against a racially biased legal system. In jail awaiting his rape trial, he had been angry to find so many other black inmates, and he wondered how many were innocent. For him, the large number of blacks meant the legal system was systematic slavery.
