I had a huge smile on my face the entire day and everyone probably suspected it was just because of the fact that I was happy Joe was 18 now. Well yeah, but I was getting my ring today. And I couldn't wait! Joe wanted a bouncer in the backyard because he's 5, so all of us were in there bouncing when Kevin and Denise brought the cake out. We got out and sang Happy Birthday and I gave him 18 kisses. Then it was time for his presents. I *was* gonna get him a car, but Kevin and Denise wanted to get one for him so I got him something else.Joe: A helmet, elbow pads and knee pads? *He looked at me like I was crazy.* For driving?Shannon: *I smiled and nodded.* You need it. I don't want anything to happen to you!Joe: Well, I guess it's the thought that counts... *He smiled and then laughed.*Shannon: Well, that's not your real present anyway. I got you some sweet rims for your car!Joe: You did? Where? *He started looking around as if he'd somehow missed them.*Shannon: They're in the trunk. They're too big and heavy to put in a box for you to open. Go look.Joe: *He opened the trunk to his new car so he could see what I got him.* These are so pimp! I love em! I'm gonna look like a G driving around town with these on my car. *He came over and hugged me tight.* I got you something too.Shannon: *I tried to sound surprised.* You did?! What?Joe: Wait right here, I'm gonna go and get it. *Go and get it? It was a ring! It could fit in his pocket! Then again, he did wear tight pants and it'd be obvious if he went around with a box in his pocket like that. I was so excited, but I didn't let it show. Every hair on my body wanted to stand completely on end, but I kept them from doing so. And every instinct told me not to breathe. I ignored that. When he came back he had something in his hands and they were cupped over it. And when he got to me he opened his hands and it was definitely NOT a ring.*Shannon: A duck? Joe. Oh my gosh! It's so cute! *I held my hands out and he put the baby duck in my palms. It was so tiny.* I love it!Joe: I knew you would. You can never do anything normal!Shannon: Oh right, and you have room to talk Mr. Just me and my Monkey! *I held the duck up and looked at his little face and fell in love. I almost forgot for a split second that I had originally hoped it was a ring. All of the sudden I wanted to cry. I don't know if it was because I didn't get a ring or if it was because Joe had gotten me the cutest thing ever! Stupid duck! I loved the damn thing.*Joe: What are you gonna name it?Shannon: *I looked at it again and decided that it was a boy.* Long Duk Dong.Joe: Um.... *He thought about it for a minute.* Sixteen Candles, right?Shannon: Damn straight!Joe: What are gonna call it for short though? Duk?Shannon: No, Dong! So I can ask him, "Dong, where is my automobile?"Joe: Of course. I should've known. *He laughed at me.* You and your movies. You can remember that, but when it comes to real life you're like, "Huh?"Shannon: Shut up..... Speaking of real life, we're still going out later. See? I remembered.Joe: And where will you be taking me?Shannon: It's a surprise..... *I said it as I was walking away to show Dong off to everyone.*Joe: Fine! Be that way!After the party I made Joe put a blindfold on as I drove to our surprise destination. We drove around for about 20 minutes before I stopped.Shannon: We're here! Stay there and keep that on! *I got out and opened his door. When he was outside of the car I took his blindfold off and he shook his head.*Joe: We're at your house.Shannon: I know! *I had a big smile on my face as I grabbed his hand and dragged him inside. We went down to the recording studio where I had put glow in the dark stars all over the ceiling and set out a blanket for us to lay on. I turned on the blacklight so we could see the stars better and we laid down to look at constellations.*Joe: Look! There's that one constellation!Shannon: I see, I see. Oh my gosh! Look! There's another one! *We each laughed at our retardation.* Oh yeah, I have something else!Joe: Uh-oh! That doesn't sound good!Shannon: Nope. Well, not if you don't like tattoos. *I sat up and opened the bag that was sitting on the couch.*Joe: Tattoos?Shannon: Yeah, highlighters! *I gave him one and then grabbed his hand and drew a heart on it and it glowed in the blacklight.*Joe: *He smiled.* Awesome! *Then he drew what felt like a heart shape on my face and then wrote his name down my arm.*We spent the rest of the night drawing tattoos (mostly hearts and the words *I Love You*) on eachother and looking at the stars until we fell asleep under the night- ceiling... yeah.70 views, 15 comments and 5 rates for the next chapter! =]]
