This clipping is from Saifabad, Hyderabad. There are no pedestrian crossings and people cross at the mercy of the vehicular traffic. There are also no footpaths and people walk on the roads. Ironically this was shot in front of the Metro Rail Bhavan on July 23, 2008. This was the day when the Metro Rail Bids were being opened for 11, 000 crores. It is indeed shocking that basic things are not being set right in our city and people are talking about a much higher level of transport. It would be fine if this kind of transport were not to use footpaths and pedestrian crossings but unfortunately connectivity is always going to be the key issue. And connectivity always is footpaths and pedestrian crossings.
