Art for Art's sake, exploring and pushing the medium, getting paid is great, having time and vision to express momentary visions - priceless. Some of the models and ideas in this animation were born before Windows, on clunky DOS machines with very limited horsepower... 17, 18 years ago.. some of us could still use a thousand fold increase in CPU power!.. for example; Some of the fluid simulations calculated for 2 weeks, storing over 50 gigabytes of particle data,.. and racking up the electric bill. Render would not fit in ram and had to be composited, I even compromised shaders and limited my dream..What else can I say, this little piece of work represents untold hours of development, trial and error, porting to the latest platforms... anyway I hope you enjoy a few seconds that took a few years to create, now I can go back to work.-SheaBetter quality Quicktime:http://www.shea-design.com/youtube/Shea_Dali-Land-2008_4Utbe.movAvailable for license @ 1280 X 720 - 600 frames.

Jul 26, 2008 - What do you think of the new skin? Mental ray displacement carbon fiber material..Yeah the big splashy wave calculated for almost 10 days, P4 3-Ghz at the time.I just ordered the RealFlow 4 upgrade, they finally re-wrote the plugins after many years of limited support in 3DS Max. -Cheers

Jul 26, 2008 - Wow. Yeah I can definitely tell that the fluid simulation must have taken ages, especially for the sea in the background. See that's why I'm just working on simple rain and splashes right now using a low poly robot. :)
