Nov 19, 2008 - I get scared, but I know it would be really hard to strech my pouch out on soft foods. It is scary. I understand. I have thrown up, but then I was ok. Try not to let it stop you from enjoy some nutriention. :)

Nov 19, 2008 - I was scared when I started eating again also. I am still rarely ever hungry. I am a month out and I am still eating scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, and applesauce. I have eaten grilled fish and some turkey chili as well. I am really scared to try anything else yet. Have you tried egg beaters to get yourself back into eating?

Nov 19, 2008 - I hope that wasn't the wrong message to send. I just wanted to relay that I think it is normal and that you will be ok. I have found that as long as I keep it low fat and low carb, I am ok. It will get easier, you are still early on. As for the drinking with meals, sometimes I still take a sip of water with my meals just to keep hydrated. Hope this helps and doesn't scare you. Hang in there.

Nov 19, 2008 - You need to do a few things to get yourself pumped up to start eating:1) Set a timer for each piece of food you put in your mouth, chew for 1 min. if too long, try 30 seconds next bite. 2) Your body will most liekly give you a sign that you are getting full. Mine happens to be I sigh. Once I sigh, I'm done. Could I eat a few more bites YES, do I NO.3) DO NOT fill your plate, start with 1-2 oz and then add as the weeks go by. Now go eat 1/2 of a scrambled egg and see how that feels!

Nov 19, 2008 - It's a slow progression. I started with only 1 oz of food per meal. I measured everything in a medicine cup. You can't damage your pouch on soft well chewed food. Read my comment on rettas response to this too.Yes it will pass. I am 6 1/2 wks and eating most anything now (healthy of course).Stick with low carb low fat yogurt 3 oz, lowfat cottage cheese, fat free refried beans, soft fish or chicken when you are allowed (1 oz). It passes.Donna:)
